Evening Post

No major changes needed to the forecast at this point as things are generally on track this evening. Looking at breezy conditions throughout the region with cooler air making its way in from the northwest as from the upper level trough. Upper level trough will be the dominating feature in the weather tonight as well as tomorrow as temperatures throughout the region will have a hard time getting above 20° for a high…Erie will have a hard time getting above 15° as a matter of fact.

Snow showers will continue in the eastern half of the region tonight as the winds are still favourable – as is the temperature difference between surface and 850-mb levels and the temperatures are much cooler than that of the lake. About 5-9 inches of additional snow fall will occur in the Erie area tonight, with lesser amounts in the Cleveland and Buffalo areas.

Snow will continue into tomorrow morning as the conditions will still be right for the lake effect snow. However tomorrow afternoon we’re going to watch as the winds start to shift a little bit. This means that the snow showers in the eastern half of the region are going to start to dwindle down and eventually taper off. That is until the next system gets ready to enter the region.

With the northwest flow in the upper regions getting ready to turn westward, we’re going to watch a lone short wave rush through the region on Wednesday. This short wave is going to introduce some widely scattered snow showers in the region, then it will pull out quickly and allow for a warm front to enter the region towards the end of the work week.

This warm front is going to allow for some above normal temperatures to enter the region once again and by the time the weekend rolls around, some of us will be back into the 40’s. But will this warm weather last and is there yet another system showing up on the horizon that could give us a repeat of the weather we’re seeing now? I’ll have that answer and more coming up tomorrow morning at 5.30 a.m. so be sure to check back for that. I’ll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather!
