Brief Update

No big major changes to the forecast at this point as things are generally going to quiet down throughout the region this evening. Some lingering lake effect snow showers in the eastern half of the region will begin to die down as the upper trough slides out of the region and a high pressure builds over to the east. Temperatures in the region are still going to remain a little on the cool side with everybody falling below 20° tonight with parts of the eastern region getting down to about 10°.

Short wave will move through the region tomorrow, and this is going to give the region one more shot at some snow showers...but the snow showers will be light and generally scattered so I am not expecting any accumulation of the sort.

Upper level flow returns to the west as a warm front tries to slide back into the region. This will put the temperatures back into the warmer weather which has plaqued us since November (for those of us who like the snow). Expect highs to be a few degrees above average by the time Friday rolls around. A cold front and an upper level trough will move through the region by the time Friday or Friday evening rolls around, but it wont have much moisture to work with so we'll generally just see clouds from it. There is a chance that some lake effect snow will develop in the eastern half of the region with the passage of this system, but the temperatures wont be dropping that much so I am going to give any accumulations yet...though some light accumulations will be possible.

Otherwise, looking at a fairly calm weather pattern over the course of the forecast period. Because of this, I am looking ahead at the long long term (the long long term being the time that is ahead of the forecast period) and some active weather looks like it will be entering the region around the typical time of the season. However, nothing really strikes me at this point as having very cold air masses, but some snow could come out of this - but models are in a disagreement right now. Now I have not spent that much time on it, so I am planning on doing so this evening, but in general it is safe to say that through Sunday it will be generally calm across the region. Unfortunetly.

I'll type more about the long term coming up for the Evening Post...where the only chance of interesting weather at this point seems to be. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
