We have two chances for snow showers in the region next week…first chance comes Tuesday/Wednesday, second chance comes Friday and Saturday (which is a day before Christmas). For now, I am going to work with the first chance, and if time allows this afternoon I’ll get to work on the second chance. The first chance we have has been anything but easy these past couple of days to forecast for:
Cold front is going to stall out somewhere between Chicago and Cleveland on Monday and this is going to present some unsettled weather in the western half of the region. Waves of low pressure will move along the stationary front as a high pressure builds to the south of the region, thus keeping the weather calm for the most part on Monday morning. Low pressure centre starts to develop in the southern Plains along side of an upper low.
This low pressure will be tough when it comes to the temperatures. We’ll be seeing rain from the system, but the question will follow as to how much snow showers we’ll see on the backside of the low pressure. The low pressure will have some brief cold air advection and this could make it in time for the precip towards the backside of the low pressure system. Further forecasting on this will be made.
I’ll have a full update coming up around Noon, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
