Our area of low pressure is passing to the west of Chicago right now, on track as expected and the rain showers are on the way towards the region. The cold front is still off to the west of the region which is where the rain showers area. Warm advection taking place ahead of the front is going to help usher in that moisture into the region. Look for the rain showers to be basically steady for a good portion of the morning in the western half of the region. For the eastern half of the region the steady rain will fall more so in the early afternoon.
Now remember, this front is going to stall out late tonight/early tomorrow morning and this is going to keep the rain showers in the region as waves of low pressure ride along the front.
The stationary front will extend into the southern states along with a elongated upper level trough. This is going to help kick up a low pressure centre which will move towards the region. Now this low pressure has been nothing but a thorn in the forecasts for the past 3 days, but it has finally made up its mind so I’ll give you a decent sized update on it coming up around 6.00 a.m. So be sure to check back for that.
I’ll have a full update coming up around 6.00, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
