Temperatures fairly uniform across the region this evening and they will remain rather steady throughout the night. High pressure to our south along with a warm front way up to the north of the region this evening is going to allow for those temperatures to remain rather steady throughout the night. 32° in Erie, 35° in Fort Wayne and Toledo is still holding onto the mid 30’s.
Now the weather across the region is going to be fairly active this week. Not much has changed since the long post this morning, and in general the weather hasn’t deviated much from earlier. A cold front will stall out across the Ohio River Valley on Monday night and this is going to allow for some waves of low pressure to develop along it and produce some rain showers.
Tomorrow afternoon we’ll be watching a weakening upper low come out of the Plains and head towards the region. This will produce a surface low pressure in the southern Plains which will move towards the region. As the low pressure moves towards the region, it’ll turn the section of the front ahead of it into a warm front and this will really introduce some of those rain showers into the region, but then it’ll bring a brief break in the region for the rain showers. Could see a little bit of mixing with it early Wednesday, but really it’ll mostly be rain. Be sure to check those extended forecasts for those details depending on where you live.
The low pressure clears out of the region on Thursday and then a high pressure attempts to build into the region to the south and then we’re going to see a trough of low pressure try to make it into the region. This trough will be enough to bring some widely scattered snow showers into the western half of the region. Those snow showers won’t give any accumulation except maybe a trace in the western half of the region. But the eastern half of the region could be seeing a lake effect snow event just in time for the Christmas season. I’ll type more about this tomorrow morning.
I’ll have a complete update coming up tomorrow morning at 5.30 a.m., where I’ll give you a full rundown on the Christmas weather in the region – as well as the weather for the region this week in general – but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that’s the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I’ll have them for you as always.
