You can tell by the title of this here post just what this post will be about. Yes, it will be about snow. Just making sure that you're paying attention, nah, this post is really about rain.
Rain showers are already making their way into the region, and its going to be scattered rain showers pretty much possible overnight tonight as we see that front try to push its way to us. This is because the front is extended from a low pressure over in the Plain's. The same low pressure that we've been following pretty much all week is now going to be passing through the region later tonight and through the day tomorrow. It is going to cross through southern Wisconsin...so a little bit further south than I had originally expected, but all this means is a higher chance of rain and that's about it.
Rain showers are going to vary, literally. Most of the rain showers however will be light, but a few could be moderate and a couple heavy rain showers could get thrown into the mix later tonight. Will this make the weekend a total washout? I am not expecting that it will, however a good chunk of the region is going to see a chance of rain through the day tomorrow and possibly for the first part of Sunday. Now, this chance doesn't mean that it will be raining the whole time, it just means what it says "a chance" meaning that it isn't likely, but it could still happen with the given time frame.
For Buffalo and Erie, those rain showers wont really be of concern to you guys until after midnight, and moreso towards the morning hours and through the day tomorrow. These rain showers will mostly be off and on scattered rain showers throughout the time, and you shouldn't get more than about 0.25 inches of rain.
Toledo and Fort Wayne, you're looking for your rain chances to continue to increase as the evening goes on tonight. Some of those rain showers could me moderate to heavy, but in general it'll mostly be scattered rain showers off and on through the evening, with those chances of some more steadier rain showers developing in the early morning through the first part of tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon in the above mentioned, will be scattered off and on rain showers with mostly cloudy skies...but still a descent chance for rain nonetheless. Tomorrow night, I am expecting that these rain showers will clear out of the region and we're going to enter a brief break in Toledo and Fort Wayne.
Green Bay...what can I say about you. Oui. Green Bay, you guys have those rain showers down to your south right now, and those will make their way northward throughout the rest of the evening and they'll hang around with you guys through much of the overnight hours and the day tomorrow. Of all the cities we forecast for...Green Bay is going to be the closest to this low pressure centre, so that means that they will recieve the highest chance of rain showers for a bit longer period of time.
Nonetheless, tonight and tomorrow will be a somewhat cool, windy and rainy evening across much of the region. Buffalo and Erie, you wont really see those rain showers until after midnight tonight and tomorrow morning, everbody else (including Cleveland and Detroit) will be seeing those rain showers pretty much scattered throughout the evening and overnight tonight as well as into the day tomorrow.
How about temps? Well lets type about that for a paragraph or two. Now, I do expect that this warm front will make it well into the region tonight, if it already hasn't in some places. Last time the charts were updated, the front was just to the south of the region, and right now, according to my surface (METAR) charts, the front looks like it is in between Findlay, OH and Mansfield, OH...between Muncie, IN and Fort Wayne, IN and between Youngstown, OH and Astabula, OH. Temps contrasts are very noticable around with that warm front, temps are going to increase slighty once that front passes, however it is going to be nighttime tonight, which means that those temps are going to be too warm...in fact we're going to stay within the upper 40's to lower 50's across much of the region tonight.
Temps presently in the region are fairly uniform...hovering the low to mid 40's from Green Bay to Buffalo. And that will be the tone of the evening, but once that front passes...temps are going to be uniform in the upper 40's to lower 50's.
So scattered rain showers and cloudy skies tonight, not to mention some winds as well, as that warm front tries to push through the region tonight. Mostly light rain showers with some moderate rain showers at times. Temps mild in the upper 40's to lower 50's across the region.
Well today is 15 April as you know, and this would've been the 5th day of Apollo 13, which at this time 41 years ago was on its way back to Earth...but still two days out. Here is what the weather was like during this time.

A little left over clouds in the area on this day, however the high pressure was going to keep those skies for the most part. Temps were about 10° cooler at the noontime observations as that high pressure was controlling the weather from Hudson Bay Canada to Orlando, Florida. The low pressure was located in the Plain's and was producing rain fall up the northern Plain's and northern Rockies. Also, the low that had effected the region has pretty much died out. There were some scattered rain showers over the NYC and Philadelphia area as a low pressure off the coast moved northeast towards the open sea. In general, the weather on this day is not much different from the weather that we are seeing now.
Coming up for the morning update, I'll be typing about those rain showers of course and what all they are going to do. Also, we'll take a look at some more regional weather and I'll be updating those extended forecasts. I'll be keeping you updated as always, Morning Update coming up around 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
