Some of you might have woken up this morning and wondered: why didn't last nights storms wake me up? Well, I myself have been wondering that same question. In fact, most of my times were correct...however the intensty of the storms was far from correct. I do apologize for the inconvience and I'll make sure that it does not happen again.
I am going to have to go over the numbers today and the charts and figured out what happened, but I am thinking that the cause was the lift. Once that sun set last night, those storms seem to have fallen apart because nothing was holding them together. In fact, temps and dewpoints where pretty much ready for some storms or at least rain showers, but they just decided that they didn't want to hold up. My other thinking is that the low pressure took a sharper northeastern turn then I had expected.
So was I wrong? A little bit, yes, I will admit it this time. You also have to remember, I am a little rusty on the storm forecasts because it has been about 6 months since I last had to do a storm forecast (with the exception of last week), so I have to start breaking out the storm charts and everything that is storm related. I got to get my storm groove back on. I guess the big annoyance is when you spend about 5 days forecasting hard core for a system...and then it gives you nothing. Oh well, that is weather. I am going to go over the charts and numbers, and find what happened with this system so that next time I will be sure to have the forecast 100% correct. So, dont worry, just a little flub and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
Now, this broken line of rain showers and isolated storms is moving through the northwest Ohio region right now, and we might see those storms refire up however as they make their way eastward today. SPC does still have some concern for the area from Toledo to Buffalo, so I will keep an eye on this and hopefully we might get a little refiring this morning.
The cold front is about to enter Indiana right now, so our time of storm activity is starting to close here, so if anythng is going to get us, it has to get us here soon. I'll be following this for the next couple hours, and see what will come off this.
But once that front passes, let me tell you, those temps are going to fall back into the 50's and you'll notice it. If you check the daily forecast (which I feel I have put the precip chances too high) you'll notice that most of our temps are going to fall this afternoon with the passage of this cold front. Highs today will more than likely happen before noon, and then they will quickly fall back down.
Also, from what it looks like, we did break some of those daily record highs yesterday, so hopefully a little bit later this morning, I'll have some numbers for you all so that you can see who broke what record and when.
So for the storms today, I am still expecting that Cleveland and Erie could see a refiring of these storms, but at this point I do not examine they will be anything too major, more than likely just the typical spring time type storms.
I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you.
