Evening Update/Apollo 13 weather

Alright, first we're going to type about some present weather here in the region before we get to the weather 41 years ago. Right now across the region, it is mostly clear, but we're going to start to see those clouds roll into the region later tonight as the low pressure in the Plain's begins to work its way to us. This is the same low pressure that right now is producing strong storms with tornadoes down in Oklahoma...however that's Oklahomna, they get tornadoes...this is the Great Lakes...we get rain. This system will not be giving us those storms, but it'll be giving us some rain showers tomorrow and Saturday as this low moves through the region.

While we're on the topic of the Plain's...would you like to see a forest fire on radar? The image below is from northern Texas and that rain you see in the middle of the image isn't actually rain...nah, its smoke from a fire...that or a large cigar, because everything is bigger in Texas. A little humor for you there.

Now, we're going to see those clouds roll in tonight across the region as that low tries to move towards the region. Also, a weaker low pressure over in the Iowa area is going to help to introduce those clouds, because this low from the Plain's wouldn't be able to do this all alone. The low in Iowa is rather weak, but in general its going to be enough to help to give some clouds. There are some weak rain showers in the area, however those wont really reach the ground...so I can not imagine that they will really be noticable.

So increasing clouds tonight across the region, temps are going to be about the same as they were last night. Now, lets type about that Apollo 13 weather.

A low pressure in the Rockies was beginning to deepen and move east-northeast around a high pressure in the Plains. This high pressure was keeping temps rather cool across the Plains, in fact Oklahoma City was only at 37° while Detroit was at 43°. Rain showers all the way from Erie to Fort Wayne as a weak low pressure moved through Ohio. Rain showers were light, it wasn't a complete washout. Temps generally cool around the noontime hours, but with that heating, those temps did in fact get into the upper 40's and lower 50's as you saw from this afternoons post. That was the weather for the 4th day of the Apollo 13 mission as it looped around the moon to use the gravity of the moon to "sling shot" the spacecraft back home.

I'll keep you updated as always, and I'll have more coming up tomorrow morning, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you as always.
