Rain, then cooler

(Radar image for the southern Great Lakes region at 6:42 a.m. EST).

With the front in central Indiana, a temperature contrast is noticable. Ahead of the front, most of us are seeing highs in the mid to upper 40's, with some places seeing temps in the lower 50's. But aside from all that, the other big story is the winds. Winds gusting around 30-35 mph, and those winds will last through the after noon.

I am looking for the highs in places like Toledo, Detroit and Fort Wayne to occur in the morning, and then once that front passes through the rain showers will become scattered and temps will fall into the mid 30's.

For Erie and Buffalo, things are a little different, your highs will be in the afternoon and the front will pass through this evening which means that temps will quickly fall to the 30's around sunset.

(National temps at 6:00 a.m. EST, notice the contrast in Indiana).

As far as rain fall is concerned, expect about 0.50 to 1.00 inch of rain for most places in the region. Rain showers could be heavy at times, so I wouldn't be surprised if some locations reported an extra half inch or so. But in general, this is going to be a steady rain fall.

Again, once that front passes through, the rain showers will become more scattered and temps will quickly drop to the 30's.

Some places like Erie and Buffalo will see some possible lake effect snow tomorrow, and that'll give you guys about 1-3 inches of snow fall. The snow wont last long however, because highs tomorrow will be in the mid 30's and same with Monday, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Other places like Toledo and Fort Wayne, could get some scattered snow showers behind the front this evening and maybe early tomorrow morning, but it wont accumulate to anything much...maybe a trace at best.

Be sure to check your extended forecasts on the right side of this site, so you can see when the rain will be ending and what to expect for the beginning of the week.

So, rain showers likely for most places today, and highs will be near 50°. Once that front passes you'll feel it as temps fall back to the 30's.

I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them.
