From snow to 60° ... ?

This afternoon was a rather interesting day across the region. Sunny and mid 40's in Toledo and Fort Wayne, snow in Buffalo and about 4-5 inches of snow for Erie, Pa.

We had a low pressure which took its time when crossing through the region, and its track was just right that it took Buffalo a little longer than expected to actually get those snow showers rather than rain fall. However, the timing was just right in Erie and that allowed for some rather nice accumulations of anywhere from 4-5 inches to occur overnight last night and this afternoon.

Though the snow did start a little earlier than expected in Toledo and Fort Wayne, it wasn't until a little after midnight last night (2:54 a.m. to be exact if you really want to know) that those rain showers fully turned over to snow. Over 0.60 inches of rain fell in Buffalo yesterday, and then it switched over to snow. But like Toledo, the temps weren't very low, which hindered some snow fall accumulations.

In Erie, about 11:00 p.m. last night is when those rain showers turned to all snow, however the surface temp was just below freezing and most of that snow that fell did accumulate from what reports are telling me.

Now here is where things get interesting.

Over in Toledo, it snowed, turned over to snow by the early evening, however most of it did not stick. The ground was too warm and a lot of those roadside puddles did not freeze which also made accumulating hard. About an inch of snow fell in the NW Ohio area last night, however the system moved out by the late morning. Skies cleared and that allowed for some warm air and clear skies to melt away just about all of that snow...so now it looks like it never even happened.

Tomorrow, temps are going to warmer...in the mid 40's for most places tomorrow. I am watching another system, much weaker however, which will pass through northern Michigan tomorrow. This basically means that everyone will be slighty effected by it in the southern parts of the region. Tomorrow for Toledo and Fort Wayne it'll be a cloud event with some scattered snow showers possible in the morning, then back to some scattered rain showers in the afternoon. However it'll be all over with by tomorrow evening...just those remaining clouds which will keep those lows in the mid 20's.

For Erie and Buffalo, it'll be scattered rain and snow showers tomorrow with highs in the mid 40's yet again (and that will help to melt some of that snow). But by Sunday you'll go straight back to the snow showers which might accumulate but not too very much.

For the beginning of the week up until about Wednesday, things look to be clear for the most part. Highs possibly reaching 50° on Wednesday, and maybe even 60° by Thursday, at least for Toledo and maybe even Erie as well.

I'll have more on that warmer weather coming up tomorrow morning, so keep checking back for updates then. I'll keep you updated as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them for you.
