Dont know how I missed the most basic rule of weather, but it looks like a little snow was overlooked yesterday when I was preparing the forecast for some areas. Before I get to that, lets take a look at some near term weather.
We have the system getting ready to clear out the region, people in Green Bay are seeing cloudy skies. Hopefully later this morning I'll some snow fall reports to share with you all and we can see how much they recieved. Over in Toledo right now, the tricky forecast, we are seeing those freezing rain showers going back and forth between freezing rain and snow. Not much snow accumulation in Toledo as of now, however they could pick up about an inch of snow fall today on top of the ice they recieved over night. Basically Toledo had the most interesting of the weather for this system.
For the rest of the day today, those with a mix should start to see that go over to all snow by the afternoon. Depending on where you are will determine how much snow you'll see. For most places I am getting the feeling that if they had a mix overnight, they'll probably only see about an inch or two of accumulation tonight (Toledo and Fort Wayne).
Low pressure located in central Illinois right now, and the stationary front is located in central Ohio and central Indiana. That stationary front wont be moving, so the precip is going to move along the area to the north of the front. As this front moves towards Toledo and Fort Wayne later this afternoon, that is when we'll start to see that snow. To be safe, I am going to call for about 1-3 inches in both Toledo and Fort Wayne for the late afternoon and evening tonight. But I am a bit unsure that any of you will see that 3 inches. I am expecting the low to stay to the south of the area, so that will bring us the snow, and should hopefully end that ugly wintry mix.
Once this system passes, we'll be seeing cooler weather tonight and tomorrow night, where places like Buffalo and Detroit could see single digits, and Green Bay might get to around 0°. That will be something to keep an eye on as well.
I'll have more coming up for you thruoghout the day today, so keep checking back for updates and I'll have them. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
