Well, the low pressure system down in Texas is beginning to get organized, and though at this rate it might not seem like it, it will get a bit stronger and should give us a fair amount of snow. Now, depending on where you are, you'll be seeing different amounts, of course. For places to the west of Fort Wayne, you probably wont be seeing much, but for places east of Fort Wayne, you could be seeing it.
This wont be a lot of snow, by far, but it will be enough to at least stay on the ground for a week.
Here is what I expect to happen for the Toledo and Fort Wayne areas:
Today: it will be cloudy with scattered rain showers moving in later this morning. Highs will be in the upper 30's.
Tonight: Those rain showers will begin to mix with some snow showers, and during the transition phase we'll see some wintry mix, sleet and possibly a little freezing rain. And then by the late evening, everything should become snow. Depending on how far south this low goes, will determine the amount of precip that we'll see. For Fort Wayne, I am going to say that about 2-3 inches of snow will fall overnight tonight. Now Toledo on the other hand is going to be a bit tricker. For places a little south of Toledo we could see about 1-3 inches of snow fall overnight, and then for places north of Toledo we'll see about 1-2 inches of snow fall.
Tomorrow: Snow showers will be likely in the morning, and there could be a little bit of blowing snow, but nothing that we aren't use too. For Fort Wayne another inch of snow could fall in the morning, which will give you guys a grand total of about 2-4 inches of snow fall. For Toledo, about another 1-2 inches of snow could fall in the morning hours. For places south of Toledo expect about 3-5 inches of snow, and places to the north of Toledo expect about 2-4 inches of snow.
Tomorrow afternoon: the snow showers will become scattered by late morning, and then they should begin to taper off during the afternoon. We'll go for cloudy skies tomorrow afternoon with a high in the lower 30's.
Now the temperature will of course be the biggest factor, tonight through tomorrow those temperatures will be steady around the lower 30's. At anytime if those temps go above 32 then of course the precip wont stick and things could fall as rain. The other biggest factor will be during the transition stage. As we go from rain to snow, we could get that sleet mix and freezing rain mix will of course hinder the snow fall totals. But we usually always get that with these winter systems so that wont be anything out of the ordinary.
So, for today: scattered rain showers across the Fort Wayne and Toledo areas.
Tonight: Rain/snow showers becoming all snow after midnight.
Tomorrow: Snow showers in the morning, ending sometime after noon.
I'll keep you updated throughout the day, because like I typed, this will be a fun system to track. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them.
