A bit of everything

(The system responsible for our weather this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon).

Well we're going to watch as a low pressure moves in from the Plains today, and that will bring a mix of precip for a good chunk of the region today. Actually, most of the northern places will see snow, whereas the places like Toledo and Fort Wayne along with Erie will see a wintry mix for the most part.

First people to get will be Green Bay, and we'll see about 3-5 inches of snow fall today and tonight. The snow will be starting today and we'll see those snow showers last until about tomorrow afternoon. Blowing snow will also be a concern for you guys, but it wont be anything too major.

Other places like Toledo and Fort Wayne are going to first see a wintry mix this afternoon. The NWS offices of N. Indiana and Cleveland have placed their areas under winter weather advisories and warnings. Now, this is mostly because of the freezing rain concern, not so much snow. In fact, for these two locations, I am only expecting about an inch of snow fall. But the freezing rain and sleet will pose a problem later this afternoon and tonight. But do not get overly excited about the freezing rain, because late tonight and early tomorrow morning, we're going to see those winter mix showers switch over to rain, and that will help in melting some of that freezing rain away. By tomorrow afternoon, those rain showers will go back to snow showers, and we'll see little accumulation before all is said and done. The precip will be out of the area by late tomorrow afternoon.

For Erie, a little similar to Toledo and Fort Wayne. For Erie, those scattered snow showers will move in later this afternoon and tonight. Little accumulation expected, because later tonight we're going to see some sleet and freezing rain likely. The accumulations of the latter wont be anything much, but do take it easy on those road ways. By tomorrow, we'll still be seeing those wintry mix showers, and some of it could turn to just all rain. But, like Toledo and Fort Wayne, around tomorrow afternoon all those showers will turn over to snow, and you could pick up about an inch of new accumulation. So nothing out of the unusual. Snow ends by the early evening, skies clear out and Tuesday looks to be an OK day.

Buffalo, you're going to be a bit luckier than most places across the region. For you guys this will all be a snow event. About 3-6 inches of snow fall likely between tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Unlike the others, you wont have that wintry mix to be concerned about which is why your accumulations will be higher than the rest. Snwo starts later this evening and will last all the way through the day on Monday. Monday night, skies clear out and Tuesday is looking to be a nice day.

For Toronto, you'll be getting some of the excitment, but not as much as others. About 2-5 centimeters of snow is looking likely for you guys, and that snow will begin later tonight and last through the day on Monday, like Buffalo. Blowing snow will be likely, but that wont be anything that you guys aren't use to. The snow will last from tonight through tomorrow, skies clear out tomorrow night and Tuesday is looking good with cooler temps.

So, again, lets go over my predicted times for precip:

Green Bay: This afternoon through tomorrow afternoon. All snow. 3-5 inches of snow. Blowing snow likely.
Fort Wayne: Precip likely this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon. Wintry mix then rain, then snow. Accumulations light.
Toledo: Precip likely this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon. Wintry mix then rain and then snow. Accumulations light.
Erie: Precip likely this evening through tomorrow evening. Snow, wintry mix, rain, snow. Accumulations of snow around an inch.
Buffalo: Precip likely this evening through tomorrow evening. All snow. 3-6 inches likely.
Detroit: Precip possible this afternoon through tomorrow evening. Wintry mix then snow. About an inch of snow likely.
Toronto: Precip likely this evening through tomorrow evening. All snow. About 2-5 cm of snow likely.

Behind this system will be cooler temps as expected. Green Bay will go back into the single digits, and other places will see the mid teens. So winter is still with us - as I warned you all about earlier this week - so lets not be surprised. I'll keep you updated as always starting this afternoon. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them.
