(Clipper #2 about to cross into Minnesota)
First, lets type about some present weather.
Well, our second clipper is moving through the region as I type. Snow fall is being reported in Green Bay right now, and Jacob is expecting about 3-5 inches of total snow fall between tonight and tomorrow morning. I do expect the bulk of these snow showers to be over with by very early tomorrow morning, and then you guys should see some scattered snow showers in the mid morning. But otherwise, most of the snow will happen overnight tonight.
In Toledo and Fort Wayne we'll see those snow showers move in really anytime after midnight tonight. Then, they'll be off and on and last through the morning and probably end sometime in the afternoon. Then we'll see scattered snow showers for the rest of the afternoon. I do expect about 1-3 inches of total snow fall to come from this system. Now this isn't anything to panic about, so I dont want to see people outside with their snow blowers.
Now, I will tell you what I am really tracking right now. This clipper isn't very hard to forecast for, but what will be hard to forecast is what we'll be seeing possibly on Thursday. A blizzard? Eh, not quite. Some snow? Yes.
Current charts and indications show a storm developing down near the Texas/Louisiana border (along the Gulf) sometime on Wednesday. Now, what we've all learned from me, is that anytime a system forms in the Gulf during the winter, it requires some intense monitoring. We get these quite a bit though.
The reason I have to monitor it closely is because anybody who is south of the low will get rain...anybody to the north of the low will get snow. Right now, the track is tricky. Some charts have me thinking it'll go through north central Indiana which means that Toledo, Detroit and Fort Wayne will get rain, and the rest will get snow. HOWEVER, some other charts have me to believe that the low will pass more towards Cleveland, which would just about give everybody to the west of Cleveland snow.
Now, because of the fact that the system is literally 6 days out, I am unable to give a snow amount. Posting an amount this early would be pointless, because I'd end up changing it at least twice, that and the track will probably shift over the next couple days. Also, it is going to be pointless to post an exact time for it, because its speed may also change. But, if I had to make a guess, I'd say that it could start impacting the region as early as Thursday evening. However, most of us here in the Great Lakes region will literally see some form of precip one way or another from this system.
So, tomorrow we're going to see our second clipper system move through the area. Nothing out of the usual here for winter time. I'll also be analyzing this possible storm over the next couple days, and I'll have updates and more information about it coming up in the morning. However, remember folks, storms like these are typical here in the Great Lakes region, so lets not crowd the stores and buy all the salt we can. It's winter, it happens.
I'll have more information coming up in the morning and I'll be keeping you up to date as always. But for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Keep checking back for updates because I'll have them.
