Tis the season

And yes it is, we got some interesting snow numbers reported today, that I have recieved from an organization of meteorologists...actually it is called CoCoRaHS and we report precipiation values. Let's quickly take a look at some of the numbers that were reported today:

Portage County, Ohio: Places near Kent, reported a total snow depth of 11.5 inches of snow, and right now the snow is still falling.
Geauga County, Ohio: Places reported about 9 inches of snow, and yes the snow is still falling there as well.
Erie County, Pennsylvania: A place just outside of Erie has reported a snow depth of 9 inches, and the snow is still falling there also.
Cattaraugus County, New York: A place in that county reported a total snow depth of about 23 inches. .
Erie County, New York: Buffalo, you're snow has gone away a bit, and now your total snow fall depth is back down to around 18 inches in most places.
La Porte County, Indiana: Your lake effect wasn't as strong as some of the places along Lake Erie, however a few of you reported snow fall depths of 5.5 inches.

So what can some of these places expect for the remainder of the night? Well most locations along the GLWX forecast realm will be seeing widespread scattered snow showers. Places like Erie, Buffalo and Cleveland (which we'll be forecasting for later this week) will be seeing quite a bit of lake effect snow tonight. Snow totals could be anywhere from 8-17 inches of snow along the shores of eastern Lake Erie.

Erie, you'll most likely see another 3-5 inches of snow tonight, with some places possibly seeing 7 inches or more. Right now there are some heavy snow bands just to your northeast and there is no doubt in my mind that those bands are producing snow fall rates of 1-2 inches an hour, if not possibly 3 inches. This is a common event, so I am sure you are all use to it by now.

Buffalo, could see another 4-6 inches of snow tonight, possibly more in those southern suburbs between.

Towns in between Erie and Buffalo will most likely see the most snow fall in the realm tonight, and that is where I expect those snow measurments tomorrow morning to be anywhere from 12-18 inches tonight.

Fort Wayne, you guys could see another inch, maybe 2 inches in some local spots, as the snow blowing off Lake Michigan will do its best to make it over your way all night tonight. Lows tonight will be near 20° and with those gusty winds near 35 mph (most of those gusts will happen before 9 p.m.) you could see windchills in the single digits.

Those winds are blowing strong off the lake tonight, temperatures will get down into the lower 20's for much of the southern Great Lakes region tonight. In fact, places like Green Bay (as predicted by Jacob) will see lows tonight near 10°.

Expect the lows to continue to drop for tomorrow, as a lot of places in the Great Lakes region could see lows anywhere from 15-20, and yes, I am predicting that the Toledo area will see lows down around 15° tomorrow night as well as Wednesday night.

I'll have more coming up in the morning, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
