Well it's going to be a calm weather weekend here across much of the Great Lakes region. Not really seeing much because a high pressure will decide to set up across the region later this weekend.
Lets take a look at some area forecasts shall we:
Toledo: Today will be highs in the mid 20's with some scattered snow showers possible, especially this morning. Otherwise today will be mostly cloudy. Now, tonight, not as cool as we have been and we'll see lows tonight around 20°. It will be mostly cloudy tonight. Now tomorrow, look for some mostly cloudy skies again with highs in the mid 20's. And Saturday night look for lows again near about 20°, but if it becomes a clear night, then we'll see lows near 15°. Looking at the long term for Toledo, I am not really expecting much until about Tuesday. On Tuesday, we'll watch another winter system pass to the south of us here in Toledo and most likely go through Indianapolis, so we could get a couple scattered snow showers out of that system, however it is a little too early to call. However, I am not expecting another system like what we saw last weekend. Otherwise, temperatures will be about the same as they have been for the past couple days, highs in the 20s and lows in the teens, so that should make for some easy forecasts.
Fort Wayne: Not too much different from what I said about Toledo. Today you'll see highs in the mid 20's with scattered snow showers likely, especially in the morning hours. Mostly cloudy today otherwise. Tonight, we'll see lows in the upper teens and mostly cloudy skies. Tomorrow will be about the same with highs near 25° and mostly cloudy skies. Tomorrow night we'll see lows in the upper teens again, however if the skies clear (which is a possibility) then we'll see the lows fall out to about 15°. Looking at the long term for Fort Wayne, we could see some scattered snow showers on Tuesday as that same system I mentioned earlier will be passing to the south of you guys. It wont be a major event, but you guys could get a couple snow showers on Tuesday from this system. Otherwise, temperatures are about the same as they have been the past couple days, so again, this will make for easier forecasting.
Erie: Look for lake effect snow showers possible through Saturday evening. Could see about 1-3 inches of new snow accumulation possible by tomorrow night. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 20's and tonight we'll see lows around 20°. It'll be mostly cloudy otherwise through Saturday. Now Saturday night we could see those snow showers finally tappering off and the skies will be mostly cloudy. So, typical Erie weather for you all the next couple days, snow then clouds and then possibily snow again for the beginning of the week, but we'll have more on that coming up as our high pressure develops.
So that is a look at some of our extended forecasts here at the GLWX. Now about the poll, the question was "What was Fort Wayne, Indiana's record high temperature?" and four people voted...not a whole lot. But the answer was 106° which was set back on 14 July 1936. The state record high temperatures is 116° which was set on the same day in 1936. So that must've been a hot day across the state of Indiana if both the state record and the Fort Wayne record high were set on the same day. 1936 was in deed a hot year in terms of temperature, in fact on that same day in the same year Terre Haute, Indiana recorded a high of 110° which was that cities record as well. Just two years earlier on 24 July 1934, South Bend hit their record high of 109° and the next day Indianapolis hit their record high of 107°.
I'll keep you all up to date as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather! Stay tuned.
