Before we begin, please check back later this morning as we here at GLWX will be declaring a weather war against The Weather Channel. But for now, let's take a look at the weather shall we:
Well we're going to watch a weak weather system move into the region later today, and that could give a fair amount of snow to places in Wisconsin. However, that system will begin to weaken today and tonight as it moves into the central part of the Great Lakes region. Places like Toledo and Fort Wayne could see about 1-2 inches of snow tomorrow through Wednesday. So not really a whole lot, but enough to cover that ugly snow along the side of the roads (snow piles, you know who you are).
Now, Thursday is when the good system begins. We'll watch it form out of the Plain's and it will quickly move eastward towards Tennessee. Because of that fact that it will pass to the south of the Great Lakes region it means that it will mostly be a snow event for us here in the Great Lakes region. Now, temperatures will warm a bit as they do with these kinds of systems, but they want rise too much...lower 30's across much of the southern Great Lakes region on Thursday and Friday.
By late Thursday night we'll watch this system begin to produce snow in the Great Lakes region, more so in Wisconsin. However, Friday morning is when we'll watch the bulk of the snow fall be in places from central Illinois and Indiana (so not really the Great Lakes region). Then, Friday afternoon watch as the snow will be in the cities of Toledo, Fort Wayne, Grand Rapids and Detroit. Possibily at this time the snow could be in Cleveland and possibily even Erie, but we'll have to work out those numbers over the next couple hours here.
I'd say that by Saturday, places like Toledo and Fort Wayne will have recieved about 1-3 inches of snow for the most part, however it is still a bit too early to make a decent call on those numbers.
By Saturday morning, the system will mostly along the southern Great Lakes region (even though its center will be in North Carolina. I think that places like Toledo, Fort Wayne, Detroit, Cleveland and Erie (maybe Buffalo) will be the only places really effected by this system here in the Great Lakes region.
So, we'll be keeping you up to date on both these systems (the one tomorrow and the one on Friday) and though I do not expect them to be anything too major, I still think that it'll be enough to guarentee most of us here in the GLWX region to have a white Christmas.
I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather, keep checking back for updates.
