Well, when you get two air masses like this clashing, you'll get tornado watches? However, what I have been noticing, is that these watches are large, but there are practically no warnings with them. The NSPC has posted these as a precautionary measure more than likely. The watches go from Missouri, through western Indiana and up to Michigan, but as of now, there are is only 1 tornado warning, and that is in Missouri.
Looking at the radar, there is a weak storm line from about St. Louis, MO to Grand Rapids, Mich., but the storm line is more rain then anything. So before you panic and try to pull an all nighter looking out for tornadoes, just remember, the worst case scenerio for the Great Lakes region are little spin up tornadoes which are common with almost any storm. No, EF5's, maybe an EF0 here and there, but nothing like an outbreak.
The tornado watch in Indiana includes the following counties: Benton, Fulton, La Porte, Parke, St. Joseph, Vermillion, White, Elkhart, Jasper, Marshall, Porter, Starke, Vigo, Fountain, Lake, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, and Warren.
For Michigan: Allegan, Calhoun, Clinton, Ionia, Kent, Mecosta, Newago, Ottawa, Barry, Cass, Eaton, Isabella, lake, Montcalm, Ocean, St. Joseph, Berrien, Gratiot, Kalamazoo, Mason, Muskegon, Osceola, and Van Buren.
So, no tornado outbreak expected. This watch is, and will remain, a precautionary from the NSPC. Worst case scenario, a brief spin up tornado, but there will be a very limited number of warnings issued from what it looks like.
As mentioned, I'll have your complete forecast coming up in just a bit, but for now, that's the weather!
