Snow to rain

Well, people in Erie County, Pennsylvania reported about 1.7 inches of snow yesterday, and we could still see the possibility of another 1-2 inches fall on top of that. Not exactly the 4-9 inches I was expecting, but that is how it works: the weather doesn't agree with the weatherman. Speaking of Erie County, the Erie County in New York (which is where Buffalo is located), some reports of 8.5 inches of snow from the snow between Friday and yesterday, and again, another 1-3 inches of snow could fall on top of that.

So what could the people of Erie, PA expect for today? Well for today, highs near about 40° with mostly cloudy skies and we could see some snow showers in the morning hours. Then tonight, lows in the mid 20's with mostly clear skies.

If you're in Toledo: highs today in the lower 40's with mostly clear skies. Tonight, lows again down in the mid 20's.

The system that I am going to be tracking will be coming out of Rockies later today. This low will bring rain for much of the western Great Lakes by Monday night. Places like Toledo, Fort Wayne and Lima will see these rain showers approach on Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

If you're in Erie, Cleveland or Buffalo, the rain showers will be arriving on Tuesday morning and will hang around for much of the day.

I am not expecting a flooding event, the biggest concern with this will be the snow on the ground around Erie and Buffalo that could melt and cause some minor flooding in fields, roads and possibly of some rivers. With these low pressures also comes the warming, so places like Erie and Buffalo, you could see highs in the upper 40's on Tuesday, so not only will the rain help to melt the snow, but the temperatures will as well. But not worry, your snow will return on Wednesday and Thursday.

But otherwise, a fairly nice end to the weekend with highs in the 40's for much of the southern Great Lakes today. Tomorrow, like I said, is when we'll watch that weather system move towards the Great Lakes region. And tomorrow night is when we'll start seeing those rain showers begin in places like Fort Wayne and Toledo.

I'll keep you up to date as always, but for now, I am Timmy Albertson and that's the weather!
